Robin: Unfinished Business – A New Cat-Tales Spinoff Begins

December 9, 2013

I always liked it when Stephen Colbert introduces a guest or reports on a former guest’s latest with the formula ‘award-winning actor and friend of the show…’

Today I actually get to use that, because if there is a Friends of the Tales distinction, one of those who has earned it is certainly the Poser artist known as Thundering Monkey.  The 3-D/CGI gallery is filled with his creations, which display a real sense for the psychological moment that is the essence of visual storytelling.  But can he do it with words?  Turns out, the answer is yes.  Today, a new spinoff begins

With both Batman and Nightwing out of town the timing couldn’t be worse…

When an overzealous Civil Rights Attorney frees Stephanie Browns killer from Blackgate, it’s only a matter of time before he kills again. Now it’s up to Robin and Batgirl to solve a string of murders that have baffled the FBI for years, and put him away for good. It’s time to settle some Unfinished Business.

Gallery Spotlight: Tim Loses His Guy Card

May 10, 2013

“Robin and Batgirl, here we go again,” Bruce once said as Tim Drake and Cassie Cain started down that path teenagers tend to take.  They’re not the first couple of Cat-Tales Universe, but they have quite a following.  One of the first major episodes is depicted here, from Fortune Cookies.

Batgirl (Cassie Cain) beats Robin (Tim Drake) at Phoenix Ninja. Again.

“All Over ‘cept the Crying”

Tim figured Phoenix Ninja was the only chance he’d have to trounce Batgirl in a fair fight, and trounce her he did for the first 12 minutes of play.  There was no body language to read in his avatar ShadowBird, none of the tells she reacted to with such deadly speed in a physical battle.  Then she noticed how this wrist-twitch or that made his character move, and since then…

“All over,” she repeated as Tim’s ShadowBird lay inert on the digital rooftop while the spectacular backdrop of downtown Ginza reconfigured to proclaim SilentShogee the winner.  “’cept the crying,” she added, looking at him expectantly.

A New Cat-Tale Begins-BUT FIRST!

March 27, 2013

For a backstage gal like me, there are few things as exciting as prepping a new story for release.  And possibly because some masochistic mutation inside my common sense cortex actually likes the mad whirlwind to put out fires erupting between dress rehearsal and opening night, I decided to put out a new wallpaper at the same time.

Armed robbers have made off with a ‘gigantic’ haul of diamonds after a rapid raid at Brussels Airport.

No, no, no, that’s teasing the first chapter.  Who would want that for their desktop wallpaper?

The Bat Family Waiting for Sunrise

New series of HD wallpapers for widescreen, PC, Android tablets and phones, iPad and iPhone

That’s much better.

Much as we all love the claw marks cutting into that purple leather of the first generation Cat-Tales wallpapers, times have changed, desktops have changed, and it’s time for a new selection for HD widescreen and mobile device images.

I asked CT readers what they’d like to see, and this image of the Bat Family gathering on a Gotham roof to watch the sunrise seemed the perfect way to begin.
